About
Anger is not a bad emotion. It can signal hurt, frustration, unfairness, overwhelm, fear, unmet needs, or a boundary being crossed. The goal is not to eliminate anger. It is to notice it earlier, understand what it may be communicating, and build safer choices for what happens next. This self-paced educational course is designed for older children and teens to use with a caregiver or supportive adult. It combines trauma-informed emotional-regulation skills, CBT- and DBT-informed coping tools, communication practice, and family de-escalation strategies. Participants learn to recognize the anger cycle, map triggers and body cues, regulate before escalation, communicate needs without blame, problem-solve conflict, and repair after difficult moments. The course includes practical activities such as an Anger Mountain, a personal coping menu, trigger and body-signal mapping, caregiver co-regulation strategies, conflict-repair prompts, and a family reset and safety plan. Feeling angry is allowed. Aggression, threats, intimidation, and harm still require limits, accountability, and safety planning. This course is an educational resource and is not a substitute for individualized therapy, diagnosis, crisis care, or emergency services. If there is immediate danger or risk of harm, use appropriate local crisis or emergency resources.
