About
Mindfulness is one of the foundational skill areas in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). It is not about clearing your mind, ignoring difficult emotions, or forcing yourself to feel calm. It is the practice of noticing what is happening in the present moment with greater awareness and less automatic judgment. Come Back to the Present is a self-paced educational course designed to help you practice core DBT mindfulness skills in a simple, realistic way. You’ll explore how attention, judgment, emotional reactivity, and automatic habits can pull you away from the present—and how mindfulness can help you pause, notice, and choose your next response more intentionally. Inside the course, you’ll work with practical DBT concepts such as observing, describing, participating, nonjudgmental awareness, one-mindfulness, and effectiveness. The emphasis is on using these skills in everyday life rather than trying to meditate perfectly. This course may be especially helpful if you: • Feel pulled into spiraling thoughts or emotional reactions • Struggle to stay present when you feel stressed or overwhelmed • Want practical mindfulness skills without a highly spiritual or abstract approach • Are learning DBT skills and want a clearer understanding of mindfulness • Want to create more space between what you feel and how you respond The goal is not to stop having thoughts or emotions. It is to build awareness so you have more opportunity to respond with intention instead of moving only on autopilot. Educational resource only. This course teaches general DBT-informed mindfulness concepts and does not replace individualized mental-health treatment or a full DBT program.
